The National Human Rights Commission on Friday urged the government to ensure effective relief distribution to Jajarkot earthquake survivors.
Tikaram Pokharel, the spokesperson of the commission, through a statement on Friday, drew the attention of the government to arrange food, shelter and warm clothes for earthquake survivors.
Likewise, the constitutional rights watchdog asked the authorities to take necessary measures to protect them from the risk of various communicable diseases and epidemics that may break out due to lack of water, toilets and proper sanitation.
The NHRC also expressed concerns over the delay in relief distribution.
There is a delay in delivering the relief materials to respective ward offices due to the lack of vehicles and funds for transportation, according to the commission.
The commission said that the women and children who were affected by the earthquake are in a state of panic and menstruating women and girls are facing more problems due to the lack of toilets.
At least 153 died in the quake that rattled Jajarkot and Rukum West districts on November 3.
