A fire in Chhedaghat of Aairawati Rural Municipality in Pyuthan district destroyed 22 houses and sheds, causing an estimated loss of Rs9.35 million, officials said.
The fire broke out around midnight and spread rapidly, according to local authorities. Ward Chair Amar Resmi Magar said eight houses and 14 sheds were destroyed. Police said the blaze started from a thatched cowshed belonging to Laxman Rana.
Several livestock were killed, while food, clothing, cash and valuables were also destroyed.
Around 30 personnel from local police units, backed by the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and residents, brought the fire under control by about 7 am, police said.
