Indian Army Lieutenant General Sandhu arrives in Kathmandu on week-long visit

An Indian Army team led by Lieutenant General Jaswinder Singh Sandhu arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday on a week-long visit to Nepal.
Lieutenant General Sandhu was welcomed by Brigadier General Binod Kharel upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
In a press release on Sunday, the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information said Sandhu will call on Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma and visit Army Command and Staff College, Nepali Military Academy, Nepal Army War College and Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre among others during his Nepal stay.
The Indian Lieutenant General will also visit the Rupandehi-based Nepal Army Battle School where 334 military personnel each from the Nepal Army and the Indian Army are undergoing a joint exercise.
The 16th chapter of the India-Nepal Joint Military Exercise ‘Surya Kiran’ commenced on Friday. The soldiers are training together to enhance interoperability and share experience in Counter Insurgency and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations.
“The Nepal Army is confinement that this kind of visit by high-ranking military officers of the neighbouring countries will further expand and strengthen the military relations between the two countries,” reads the press release.
