Rastriya Swatantra Party wins three Kathmandu constituencies

Rastriya Swatantra Party candidates emerged victorious in three Kathmandu constituencies in the recently held federal elections.

Sobita Gautam, Ganesh Parajuli and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha secured victories in Kathmandu-2, Kathmandu-7 and Kathmandu-8 respectively.

Gautam defeated her closest competitor Maniram Phuyal of CPN-UML by a margin of 3,674. Gautam secured 15,229 votes for the win while Phuyal got 11,555 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Kunti Devi Pokharel (Upadhyay) came in third with 11,014 votes while CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Onsari Gharti, former House speaker, received 9,449 votes.

Likewise, Parajuli emerged victorious in Kathmandu-7 securing 8,743 votes. His closest rival Shyam Kumar Ghimire of CPN-UML got 6,800 votes while Manushi Yami Bhattarai, a candidate from CPN (Maoist Centre) garnered 6,063 votes.

Similarly, Shrestha received 10,105 votes to secure his victory in Kathmandu-8. His closest rival was Suman Sayami of Hamro Nepali Party. Sayami got 5,889 votes. CPN (Unified Socialist)’s Jiwan Ram Shrestha, the incumbent Tourism Minister, came third with 4,877 votes.
