India hands over 200 vehicles for election usage

India has provided 200 vehicles to Nepal for logistical support to various Nepali institutions for conducting upcoming federal and provincial elections.
Finance Minister Janardan Sharma received the vehicles from Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava amid a function on Tuesday, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said in a statement.
“The vehicles would prove to be useful in further augmenting the logistical arrangements of various institutions of Nepal across the country for conducting the polls,” the embassy said. Of the 200 vehicles, 120 are for the use by security forces and the other 80 will be used by the Election Commission.
According to the statement, the government of Nepal had asked the Indian side for vehicles as logistical support to conduct upcoming elections, scheduled for November 20.
Finance Minister Janardan Sharma thanked the government and the people of India for their continued support in the form of development partnership with Nepal.
Nepal has received more than 2,400 vehicles from India as support during elections, including about 2,000 vehicles for Nepal Police and Armed Police Forces and about 400 vehicles for Nepal Army and Election Commission.
