Three dead in Chandragiri landslide

At least three people, all members of the same family, died following a landslide at Deurali of Chandragiri Municipality on the outskirts of Kathmandu on Thursday night.
According to Bhai Krishna Tamang, ward chairperson of Chandragiri Municipality Ward 2, a 52 year-old-man, his 45-year-old wife and their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, residents of Dhulikhel, Kavre district, were killed in the landslide.
Tamang informed that the deceased were buried by the landslide debris as they were sleeping at a meditation centre in Deurali. The family was staying at the centre for their health treatments.
With the help of ward representatives and locals, a team of police personnel from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police led the rescue work.
According to ward chair Tamang, the bodies were retrieved from the debris early Friday morning.
