Police on Thursday freed comedian Apoorwa Kshitiz Singh.
The comedian was arrested on August 28 after numerous complaints were lodged against him for making derogatory remarks about culture and tradition of the Newar community during his shows.
According to Ganga Paudel, chief of the District Attorney’s office in Kathmandu, Singh has been released without bail after he was infected with Covid-19.
“He has been released without bail in consultation with police as he is infected with Covid,” said Paudel.
Singh was kept in custody at the District Police Range in Teku but after he fell sick he was admitted to Bir Hospital on Tuesday.
On Wednesday only the court had allowed police to keep comedian Singh in custody for the next five days.
