Parliamentary hearing committee endorses Til Prasad Shrestha as Supreme Court justice
On March 10, a meeting of the Judicial Council led by acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki had recommended Shrestha as the justice of the Supreme Court.

The meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament on Tuesday unanimously endorsed Til Prasad Shrestha as the justice of the Supreme Court.
“Shrestha has been endorsed as the justice of the Supreme Court unanimously since we all were convinced through his hearing that he was a capable, skilful and experienced candidate,” Laxman Lal Karna, chairperson of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee told the Post.
Shrestha, who is considered to be among the fair judges, has been serving as a Chief Judge of Biratnagar High Court.
On March 10, a meeting of the Judicial Council led by acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki had recommended Shrestha as the justice of the Supreme Court.
No complaint was registered against Shrestha when the Parliamentary Hearing Committee had issued a public notice for any complaint against him on March 14.
Shrestha had presented his future plans as the Supreme Court justice during his hearing besides briefing the committee about his previous achievements.
The Supreme Court currently has 20 of a total of 21 justices following the retirement of Justice Purushottam Bhandari on May 27 last year.
Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has been suspended following the registration of an impeachment motion against him at the Parliament Secretariat on February 13 by 98 lawmakers of three ruling parties.
