Amar Man Shakya, the immediate past president of the Hotel Association of Nepal, died on Friday morning due to complications from Covid-19. He was 72.

Shakya, the chairman of Amar Hotel in Tahachal, died while undergoing treatment at Om Hospital, according to Binayak Shah, senior vice president of the association.

Shah said that Shakya was admitted to Star Hospital where he was diagnosed with Covid-19 two months ago. He, however, was discharged after the recovery. He was again hospitalized at Kathmandu Model Hospital due to chest infection.

Shakya was referred to Om Hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia and was put on a ventilator.

Shakya had served Nepal’s hospitality industry for more than two and a half decades. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
