The meeting of the House of Representatives has been postponed to Sunday following the obstruction by main opposition Nepali Congress on Thursday.
Following the commencement of the House meet at 1pm today, NC lawmaker Minendra Rijal addressed the parliament saying that the main opposition will continue to obstruct the meet in protest of the recent conduction of the House proceedings and against some works of the government.
Lawmaker Rijal said that his party will continue the obstruction as the ruling party used force and endorsed the National Medical Education Bill without holding discussions adding that the government has not paid heed to the demands put forth by Dr Govinda KC.
NC lawmakers, following lawmaker Rijal's remarks, then stood up from their seat and protested.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the parliament has already addressed the demands put forth by the opposition and urged the agitating lawmakers to take their seat.
However, the opposition lawmakers remained adamant resulting in the postponement of the House meet.
Speaker Mahara, following the protest, announced that the House meet has been postponed for February 3 at 3pm.
