Death toll in Dang bus accident has reached 16.
Police said that the bodies of 13 men and three women have been found from the incident site. The identities of the deceased are yet to be established.
As many as 10 persons—five men and five women— were injured in the incident. Two persons, who were critically injured in the accident, have been referred to Nepalgunj. Others are undergoing treatment at the Rapti Zonal Hospital in Tulsipur, SP Bel Bahadur Pandey, Chief at the District Police Office, Dang, said.
He said that the teachers and students of Krishnasen Ichhyuk Polyclinic Institute were travelling in the bus when the incident occured. The Institute has come into operation in Ghorahi this year.
The teachers and the students studying forest science in the college at Gairagaun, Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City had gone to Kapurkot for field trip this morning. DSP Shahi said the incident occurred when the bus was returning to the Institute.
10 killed in Dang bus accident
At least 10 persons died in a bus accident at Ramri in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-3, Dang along the Rapti Highway on Friday.
The District Police Office, Dang, said that a team of 19 police personnel are carrying out rescue operation.
Police said the bodies of nine men and one woman have been recovered from the incident site. Their identities are yet to be established, police said.
According to DSP Prem Bahadur Shahi of the Area Police Office, Tulsipur, the incident occurred when the bus (Ba 4 Kha 9766) heading towards Dang from Salyan fell some 700 metres down the road this evening.
It has been learnt that the bus was carrying students and teachers.
