As a landmark verdict on the rape and murder of a minor, the Kaski District Court has sentenced a convict to life imprisonment.

The single bench of judge Yogendra Prasad Sah on Wednesday gave its verdict against Kusum Paudel who had raped and murdered Shreya BK, 9, in Pokhara on September 24. Registrar at the court Jagannath Paudel said Kusum was given the lifelong jail term in accordance with the Criminal Code 2074 BS. He said a convict can be jailed until his/her death for six different crimes including rape and murder of a minor.
