A man killed his wife and his son at Triveni Rural Municipality-1 of Rukum (West) district on Saturday night.
District police chief DSP Sumit Khadka informed Satta Bahadur Buda, 49, shot his wife Indrakala Buda, 42, and slit his 11-year-old son Syawam Prakash’s throat at around 2 am Saturday. DSP Khakd said Satta Bahadur also attempted to commit suicide by slitting his throat but failed. He was found injured at his home.
DSP Khadka said initial investigation showed Satta Bahadur had consumed alcohol and killed his wife and son. Locals, however, said Satta Bahadur was mentally ill and had gone missing few days ago. He was found in the jungle after five days and brought home.
