Around 4-5 unidentified persons who were carrying petrol offloaded copies of newspapers from a Kantipur Publications’ vehicle (Bhe 1 Cha 1305) and set them on fire in front of Attariya-based Nilam News Centre, the authorised distributer of Kantipur Publications, informed driver Bihari Lal Chaudhary.
The vehicle was transporting the newspapers from Nepalgunj-based press to various districts in Sudurpaschim province.

The unidentified persons also took the phone of Hriday Ram Yadav, helper of the vehicle, as he tried to take pictures of the incident. However, the perpetrators returned Yadav’s phone after pleading to them.
Distributer Yagya Raj Joshi said that the perpetrators seized the newspapers while unloading at his shop and set them on fire. Joshi further informed that the offenders also set fire on newspapers of Nagarik daily and Annapurna Post as well.
Sudurpaschim Bureau of Kantipur Publications has demanded the police take strong action against those involved in the arson.
