Police detained a 22-year-old man on charge of raping a 74-year-old woman on Monday, which happens to be the International Day for Older Persons, in Doti district.
According to the District Police Office, the woman from Badikedar Rural Municipality-3 was raped while she was on her way to a neighbouring village.
Locals detained the suspect and later handed him over to the police for legal action. The victim was taken to the district hospital for medical tests. We will file a rape charge against the accused, said Police Inspector Dhruba Bista.
As per the data available at the DPO, five cases of rape were reported in the district since the beginning of the current fiscal year on July 17.
