Biratnagar High Court ordered the release of suspended SSP Dibesh Lohani, one of the suspects in the 33kg-gold smuggling case and the Sanam Shakya murder case, on Friday. A division bench of Judge Narendra Nath Karna and Judge Taranga Subedi ordered Lohani’s release.
Twenty-three suspects in the high-profile gold smuggling and murder case had filed an appeal at the High Court against the District Court’s ruling. Police are yet to trace the whereabouts of the 33kg of gold that was smuggled into the country from the Tribhuvan Inter-national Airport, in Kathmandu. (PR)
