Saying the province government’s serious attention has been drawn towards the growing violent activities in Mahendranagar, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law PrakashBahadur Shah said the province government is coordinating with the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Minister Shah, who is also the spokesperson of the province 7 government, said a serious discussion was held in the Cabinet meeting about the latest situation of Kanchanpur.He said the province government is clear that a 13-year-old girl was murdered after rape in Kanchanpur.
He said the province government is trying its best to give justice to the victim by forming a high-level committee for special investigation.
“We are serious about the latest situation of Mahendranagar,” Minister Shah said, adding, “We have urged the Prime Minister and Home Minister to form a high-level committee to provide justice to the victim.”
Earlier this afternoon, the District Administration Office (DAO), Kanchanpur, clamped curfew in Bhimdutta bazaar area after demonstrations turned violent on the third consecutive day of the protests against the rape and murder of a teenage girl.
Four persons were injured when police opened fire at the protestors staging a demonstration against the rape and murder of a teenage girl at Traffic Chok in the district.
Locals in Kanchanpur intensified their protests after a fake suspect was paraded before the media as the prime suspect of the murder case. They accused the police administration of presenting the fake suspect to protect the perpetrator.
The body of Nirmala was found in a sugarcane field on July 27, a day after she was reported missing.Autopsy report showed that the teenager had been raped and strangulated to death.
