Jajarkot landslide: Death toll reaches 9
The death toll in a landslide that occurred at Thanti bazaar of Bheri Municipality-3 in Jajarkot on Sunday, has reached nine. The landslide had buried two houses of Tirtha Raj Bohora and Jit Bahadur Sunar burying 10 people early this morning.
According to the police, Tirtha Raj’s daughter Najita Bohora, 5; Sheetal Luhar, 25, wife of Lal Bahadur Luhar and tenants at Bohora’s house, their daughters Bhagwati, 9, Ranjana, 6 and Manisha,3, were killed in the incident.
Likewise, the landslide also buried Govinda Pariyar, 12 and Dasharath Pariyar, 5, sons of Jit Bahadur Pariyar of of Karuwa, Nalgadh Municipality-3.
Similarly, sons of Prem Bahadur Pariyar of Khurpa of Kushe-5, tenants at Sunar’s house—Narendra Pariyar, 12 and Nabin Pariyar, 10 also died in the landlside.
One Lal Bahadur Lohar, 35, was rescued alive 90 minutes after he was buried. He has been receiving treatment at Jajarkot hospital.
Personnel from Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and locals are carrying out the rescue works. Police said 17 houses are in danger of landslide in the area.
