A thirteen-year-old girl was murdered after rape in Nimbukheda of Bhimdutta Municipality-18 in Kanchanpur district on Thursday.

The body of the girl identified as Nirmala Pant was found at the sugarcane farm on the side of Mahandranagar-Ultakham road, police said. Nirmala went missing after she left home on Thursday evening to meet her friend.

According to Kanchanpur DSP Gyan Bahadur Sethi, police searched the nearby farm after Nirmala’s bicycle was spotted on the roadside. “Preliminary investigation shows the girl was murdered after rape,” said DSP Sethi. “We are arresting 1-2 people for interrogation.” He said there are no wounds in Nirmala’s body.
