Nine-year-old Ankit Gupta of Jitpur Simara Submetropolis-7, Bara, was murdered by his kidnappers even after his parents paid Rs 6.4 million ransom for the boy’s safe release, police investigation has revealed.
Police have arrested Ramprabesh Sah, Parbati Devei and Indian national Suraj Giri in connection to the incident. The trio is charged of abducting Ankit on June 5 for ransom and subsequently murdering him. A third suspect is at large.
Ankit’s body was recovered near a canal at Jagannathpur in Parsa on July 19 based on the statements provided to police by the suspects.
The victim was identified through a pendant that he had worn at the time of his abduction.
Police said when they discovered the boy’s body it had decomposed beyond recognition. Police have sent bone samples to the National Forensic Science Laboratory for DNA test to confirm the identity of the body.
Meanwhile, Ankit’s father Lalan Gupta has requested the authorities to take stern action against the people who abducted and murdered his innocent son.
He also claimed that he had no alternative but to pay ransom to the kidnappers because the law enforcement agencies both in Nepal and India did not take the case seriously right from the beginning. Lalan had paid Rs 6.4 million to his son’s kidnappers in two instalments at Nabalpur in India.
