Nepal Media Society and Radio Broadcasters Forum Nepal said that a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications claiming that both the organisations have been included in a committee formed to manage royalty collection is misleading.Nepal Media Society and Radio Broadcasters Forum Nepal said that a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications claiming that both the organisations have been included in a committee formed to manage royalty collection is misleading.
In a statement issued on July 11, the ministry had said that the Rolyalty Collection Society Nepal, Community Radio Broadcasters Association, Radio Broadcasters Forum Nepal and Nepal Media Society were the members of the committee formed under the coordination of Nepal Copyright Registrar’s Office.
The statement had said that a joint standard was formulated to collect tax from MRCSN, PSN and MPSN users to manage and make royalty collection scientific and transparent. The Ministry had also said that the standard has also been taken ahead for implementation.
“There is no specific standard to collect music royalty so far,” Nepal Media Society and Radio Broadcasters Forum Nepal said is statement issued on Sunday. “Both the organisations said that they have no knowledge about the committee formed under the headship of the office of Pratilipi Adhikar Registrar.”
Coming down heavily over the statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the organisations said that the statement does not have any truth.
