The authorities transferred the bodies of 14 people killed in Mustang lorry accident to Kathmandu, Dang and Rolpa districts via a Nepal Army helicopter on Saturday.
Twenty people died and 12 others sustained injuries when the lorry carrying workers met with an accident at Syangboche in Lo Ghyakar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality-3, Upper Mustang, on Friday.
The lorry (Ba 2 Ka 2219) was carrying workers back to their work site after lunch break. There were 32 people on-board.
The lorry skidded off the road and fell 50 meters down the Jomsom-Lomanthang road section. The incident site is 50 kilometres northeast of Jomsom, the district headquarters of Mustang.
Officials transferred the dead bodies and other injured people by air to Manipal Teaching Hospital and Pokhara Airport from Jomsom.
Of the 20 deceased, nine were from Rolpa, six from Dang, and one each from Dhading, Okhaldhunga, Kailali, Kapilvastu and Syangja districts.
Among 12 injured, two are still in critical condition, said police.
Rishi Ghartimagar from Sunchhahari Rural Municipality, one of the survivors of the accident, said that he was fortunate to get a new lease of life. He is receiving treatment at Manipal Teaching Hospital.
