A man has been arrested for illegal possession of 40,000 US dollars from Simle, Dhading on Thursday.
Police arrested Ananda Prasad Kalwar, 28, of Sarwal Rural Municipality-3 in Nawalparasi district, when he was negotiating to exchange the dollars at a shop in Simle along the Prithvi Highway.
Kalwar was carrying 400 notes of $100 bill in his bag, SP Dambar Bahadur BK said. He was requesting the shop owner to buy the dollars at cheaper rate saying that he hadn’t had food because he didn’t have Nepali currency.
District Police Office Dhading suspected the dollars could be counterfeit and sent Kalwar to Revenue Investigation Department, Laliptur with the dollars for further investigation and action.
