Overnight storm wrecks 200 homes in Tikapur

The villages of Pratipur, Dibyapur, Beluwa, Laxinapur and Indraiya of Tikapur-7 and Suryapur, Bangaun and Phanta of Tikapur-9 were severely hit.
Police said Atwari Dagaura of Tikapur-6, Krishna Gopal Chaudhary of Tikapur-8 and Chilagu Dagaura of Tikapur-9 were injured after the storm force wind caused trees to collapse over their homes.
Officials said the overnight storm also damaged at least 20 electricity poles and several transformers, leaving scores of homes without power.
The loss caused by the storm could be well over millions of rupees.
The municipality and relief organisations were assessing the damage and organising relief works on Wednesday.
Hundreds of families have been left without roofs over their heads, Thakulla said, adding that the municipality will convene an emergency meeting to provide relief to the families affected by the storm.
Strong wind rips roofs of 70 homes in Banke
At least 70 houses at Gohana settlement in Daduwa Rural Municipality-5, Banke, were damaged when a storm swept through the region on Tuesday night.
Officials said the storm also knocked down trees and power lines in different parts of the municipality. Police said a 12-year-old girl was injured after she was cut by a corrugated iron roofing sheet. She was taken to Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital in Kohalpur for treatment.
