In the report, Facebook has said that it provided the account details of some of the users.
The government agencies, from January to June of 2017, had asked the details of 67 accounts on 43 different occasions. Of them 41 accounts were sought for legal purposes and the details of the other two accounts were sought citing emergency.
Likewise, from July to December, various governmental agencies had sought account details of 67 individuals, stated the report. During that time, the government had demanded the details of 63 accounts citing legal proceedings and 4 accounts on emergency grounds.
The Facebook has been publishing the transparency report from 2013 and America, India, Germany, France among other nations top the list that demand details of various account holders.
The transparency report states, that in the first six months of 2017, Facebook provided account details of over half of the users to the Nepal government. While only 38 percent of the details sought by the government was divulged during the remaining six months.
Facebook has said that it provides information on the accounts only after studying the legal aspects.
Likewise, the report states that there has been an increase in the number of account details sought by the Nepal government.
Meanwhile, the Facebook does not notify its account holder about the information relayed to the governmental agencies.
