According to DSP at Dharan Police Office Rameshwor Poudel, the police had to open fire in order to arrest the perpetrators—Kumbe Rai and Biken Limbu alias Limbe—as they pelted stones at the police team during the encounter.
The police had reached Mahadev Chowk in Banjhogara, Dharan-15 to arrest the duo after Rai started hurling stones at the police.
However, no one was injured during the incident.
Police on Monday had arrested one Bigyan Limbu for his alleged involvement in the attack and were searching for the other two assailants.
Police said Sujan Khadka of Baglung and Pradip Sapkota of Dhulikhel, Kavre, were attacked by a group of three men at around 8 pm last night. Khadka has sustained injuries in his hand and chest while Sapkota sustained wounds on his chest.
Both are fourth year students in the campus. The attackers also looted their mobile phones.
The injured duo are receiving treatment at BP Koirala Health Science Institute in Dharan.
