Minister Thapa reached Bharatpur Hospital on Monday where the victim, Kalpana Shrestha, 28, is receiving medical treatment at following the attack. She has received burn injuries to her face, hands, legs and front part of her body. The doctors involved in the treatment of the victim have said that Shrestha’s is in moderate condition.
Sub-Inspector Ramchandra Khaniya, on Sunday afternoon, had allegedly thrown acid towards Shrestha, who is originally from Gorkha and is currently residing in a rented room in Bharatpur.
The Home Minister assured the victim that strict actin will be taken against the perpetrator.
The victim’s husband Kisan Shrestha a soldier in Nepal Army has lodged an attempted murder charge against Khaniya. The police had arrested Khaniya on Sunday itself.
According to District Police Office, Chitwan spokesperson DSP Prabhu Prasad Dhakal, Khaniya, a resident of Malpot Chowk at Bharatpur Bypass Road, was deployed at Hetauda-based First Medical Team of the Disaster Management Taskforce. However, he was currently deployed at a temporary traffic post at Ratnanagar.
