An unidentified group thrashed Okhaldhunga's Likhu Rural Municipality Chairperson Gobinda Poudel on Tuesday night.
Poudel said he received a phone call while asleep at his home and was asked to come out of his house for some work. When he got up and went out, the four men beat him up.
Doctor has stitched up the wounds on his left knee. Police has said he is in stable condition despite some injuries to his body.
DSP Ananta Ram Sharma said a police team reached the incident side and has started investigating the case.
