A fire destroyed 30 houses at Gharbana settlement in Tajakot Rural Municipality-1, Humla, on Friday night. There were no human casualties, said police.
The fire broke out from a house at around 11:30pm and quickly spread in the settlement. The security personnel and the locals doused the fired by Saturday morning.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamal Nepal, more than 160 domesticated animals were killed in the inferno. Preliminary police report showed that properties worth around Rs15 million were destroyed in the fire. The incident site is in a remote part in the district. It takes about four-day walk from Simikot, the district headquarters of Humla.
