A group of irate locals vandalised Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj citing doctor's sheer negligence behind the death of an expectant mother.

Tension ran high in the hospital premises after the locals resorted to vandalism.

Police said that the situation was getting worse when the locals burnt tyres and disrupted the vehicular movement along the Rajbiraj-Bhardaha road section.

Expectant mother Anita Yadav, 25, of Bishnupur rural municipality-1, Piprahi of the district was admitted to the hospital for child delivery two days ago.

She was admitted to the hospital as per the advice of Dr Dilip Saha who has been examining her health since the beginning of pregnancy.

But, the doctors and hospital remained apathetic to the patient when her health was worsening, said Anita's husband Ramesh Yadav. "The doctor and hospital were responsible for the death of my wife and child", Yadav blamed.

The agitated mob gheraoed the hospital and burnt the board put up in the clinic of Dr Dilip Saha. The locals demanded action against the careless doctor and compensation to the bereaved family. They had chanted slogans in the hospital premises during the day on Thursday and staged demonstration by burning tyres in the main thoroughfares of Rajbiraj.

A 11-member committee headed by Rajbiraj Municipality Mayor Shambhu Prasad Yadav has been formed to probe the incident at hospital and put forward necessary process to take action against the guilty. RSS
