Agni Kharel appointed Attorney General

President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday appointed former Minister Agni Kharel as the Attorney General. Kharel is a senior advocate.
President Bhandari on the recommendation of Prime Minister as per Article 157 (2) of the Constitution appointed Kharel, a permanent resident of Gauradaha-3 of Jhapa, as the Attorney General, the President’s office informed.
He had worked as the Law Minister from 2007 to 2013 in the CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli-led government. He is the politburo member of the UML.
Attorney General Basanta Ram Bhandari had resigned from his post after Oli was appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal on February 15.
