The court on Sunday convicted Bule Tamang, 31, of Sindhupalchok district, and sentenced him to life in prison.
Tamang, a native of Bhotang-8 in the district, had allegedly murdered Lapsang Tamang, 25, of the same place at a villa in Emirates Hill of the UAE in May last year.
Tamang is currently languishing at Al Aweer Central Jail of the UAE. He has been given 15 days to file a review petition.
The court verdict also ordered the UAE authorities to deport Tamang from the country after he completes his jail term. However, it has not been clearly mentioned when Tamang will be released from the prison.
Bule, in his court statement, has said that he had no intention to kill Lapsang. According to UAE police, Lapsang had visited the residence of Bule’s sponsor where they got involved in a brawl. Lapsang died after she collided against a wall when Bule pushed her in a rage.
A cleaner had found Lapsang’s dead body in a trash site the next morning. Police investigation later found Bule’s involvement.
Spokesperson at the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi Krishna Aryal is preparing to meet Bule Tamang at the earliest possible time.
Lapsang had been working in Dubai for the past four years. It is learnt that both Bule and Lapsang used to work as domestic help in UAE.
