24 elected unopposed to NA
Twenty-four members have been elected unopposed to National Assembly (NA) from seven provincial assemblies. The 24 candidates were elected unopposed as no other contender filed nominations for those seats or some of the contenders withdrew their nominations. According to Election Commission, 52 candidates will contest for the remaining 32 NA seats.
According to constitutional provision, each province will elect eight members including three from open, three women, one Dalit, one disabled or minority category. All the candidates from Province 2 have been elected unopposed.
Six candidates in Province-1, eight candidates in Province-2, one candidate in Province-4, three candidates in Province-5, six candidates in Province-7 were elected unopposed. The election will be held for all eight seats in Province-3, and 6. The NA election will be held on February 7.
Of the 59-member National Assembly, three members will be nominated by the president on the recommendation of government.
