CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the decisions made by the caretaker government have raised a question over the democratic character of Nepali Congress (NC) at a time when the people’s new verdict has already come.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Press Centre at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan on Saturday, the Maoist supremo said that the decisions made by the caretaker government would have long-term impact on Nepali Congress.

“The government has taken some decisions going beyond its boundary,” leader Dahal said, adding, “It is not possible to revoke all the decisions made by the government. The new government will revoke the decisions which will have long lasting impact on the country’s economy.”

“Discussions are underway to bring Madhes-centric parties on board the government of left alliance,” the former Prime Minister said. “There is a probability that the Madhesi parties will join the government as there is a chance of forging consensus in amending the constitution,” he added.

An understanding should be reached among the political parties through a serious discussion over the government’s decision to declare the victims of Bandarmude incident martyrs.

Two months since the former rebel leader signed the deal on the eve of elections, the government led by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday announced those killed in the incident as martyrs.

At least 38 people had died during the insurgency when the Maoist rebels ambushed a bus in Badarmude of Madi, Chitwan, on June 6, 20015.

Meanwhile, Maoist Centre Chairman Dahal expressed sadness over the Badarmude incident.
