Snowfall affects life in Manang, Jumla, Gorkha

Locals informed that areas including Timang, Danakyu, Chame of Chame Rural Municipality and upper parts of Manang including Pisang, Humde, Thorong La, Ghyaru, Tilicho including Nar Phu witnessed snowfall.

Likewise, the snowfall that occurred from around 2-3 am this morning along with strong winds have stopped vehicular movement to and from Chame, according to Chame Rural Municipality Chairman Lokendra Ghale.
Acting chief of Annapurna Conservation Region, Manang, Chetra Gurung said that tourists, heading for Thorong La and Tilicho have not been able to complete their trek and are stranded midway.
With the rise in cold conditions, local people have not been able come out of their home, while most of the people from the village have already moved down to the lower market areas.

Likewise, Jumla district also witnessed snowfall from Tuesday night. The snow has blanketed district headquarters Khalanga and the current temperature in the region is eight degree Celsius.





Similarly, northern parts of Gorkha district also received snowfall since early Wednesday morning. The farmers in the area are hopeful that their crops will yield good harvest following the snowfall.
