Protests have ensued in Birgunj on Thursday following the government decision on Wednesday declaring Janakpur as the temporary Capital of Province no 2.
Locals in Birgunj have called a general strike and have taken to streets to protest the government decision. They have demanded that the government declare Birgunj as the province capital.
The protesters have gathered at major chowks of the city since early morning and have burn tyres as a part of their protest.
Meanwhile, the demonstrations have halted movement of vehicles in the area as protests are underway at Ghantaghar Maisthan in the city.
