Rastriya Janamorcha party has account in federal parliament with a victory of its candidate Durga Poudel in Pyuthan district.
Poudel, who contested as a common candidate of left alliance—CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN-UML, defeated Nepali Congress (NC) Govinda Raj Pokharel with a margin of 16228 votes. Durga secured 47514 votes against Pokharel’s 31286 votes. She is the wife of CPN-Masal General Secretary Mohan Bikram Singh.
Pokharel had resigned as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) to contest the elections. He could not win the elections despite receiving additional 15000 votes secured by NC in the local level poll.
