Left alliance candidate Bhatta escapes IED attack in Dadeldhura
An improvised explosive device was set off targeting left alliance candidate Khagaraj Bhatta at Mauriya in Alital Rural Municipality-8 late Monday evening.An improvised explosive device was set off targeting left alliance candidate Khagaraj Bhatta at Mauriya in Alital Rural Municipality-8 late Monday evening.
No human casualties have been reported however, the police said.
Election publicity coordinator Gajendra Shahi said that the IED was detonated while they were returning from Jogbuda after attending an election meet. “We were travelling in three vehicles, I was in the first vehicle and Bhatta was in the last,” said Shahi, “The IED exploded behind my vehicle and since the other two vehicles were a little far behind no one was injured in the attack.”
Likewise, a pressure cooker bomb was also recovered from Jogbuda election meet venue where left alliance leaders Bhim Rawal and Janardan Sharma had addressed the masses. The IED was defused by Nepal Army bomb disposal squad.
