CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the Nepali Congress has also been benefitted from the left alliance.

“Bijay Kumar Gachhadhar has returned to Nepali Congress,” he said,adding, “ Nepali Congress has become united after the formation of left alliance.”

Leader Gachhadhar was a member of Nepali Congress before mid-2007. During his stint at the NC, Gachhadhar had won the 1991, 1994 and 1999 elections. After that, he joined the Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum and won the elections held in 2007.

Gachhadhar had formed Nepal Loktantrik Forum after parting ways with Yadav in 2009 and won the elections held on 2013 from Sunsari-3.

“Left alliance has worked as catalyst in ending the chaos within the NC. Hence there is no need to panic from the left alliance, instead the NC should thank the Maoist Centre.”

Former Prime Minister Dahal said that the left alliance of CPN-UML and Maoist Centre is an attempt to bring the scattered communist forces under one umbrella.

 Saying that the alliance is not a ploy to make anyone its target, Dahal asserted that no one can now escape from the democratic values and peaceful politics.

“The country was entangled due to multi-party politics for long,” said Dahal while inaugurating a fourth conclave of Lekhnath Small Town Water Supply and Sanitation User Committee in Pokhara on Friday. “Number of political parties has reduced substantially due to the alliance. This will serve as an impetus to political stability.”

Dahal went on to say that political alliances are natural process during elections and urged everyone to digest these alliances without taking them as a complicated political situation.

He reiterated that the left alliance they have formed recently is a democratic practice.

Talking about elections, Dahal said that the polls are indispensible for democracy, political stability and economic prosperity. He added that no one should try to spread doubtful rumours regarding the elections.

“After the provincial and federal elections, the country will head towards the path of political stability eventually yielding economic prosperity,” said Dahal, “Socialism without economic prosperity is mere an empty dream.”

The Maoist supremo said there will be no ruling or opposition parties when it comes to holding elections on time. As all the parties have unanimously voiced for conducting elections, a national-level favourable environment has been created towards that end, said Dahal.

“Rumours are being spread that the left alliance will bring communism, autocracy and monopoly in the country’s leadership,” said Dahal, “But all these are baseless. Nothing of such sort will come into existence.”

Saying that no political parties can sustain by forgoing the democratic values, Dahal assured that their alliance with UML is a left democratic alliance and no one needs to be afraid of it.

On a different context, Dahal said that Maoist Centre will quit the government once they finalise constituencies with CPN-UML.

“Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba shouldn’t have panicked from the left alliance,” he said, “But Maoist Centre ministers were left without portfolio.”

Dahal said his party will quit government after finalising candidates for 45 districts.
