Chinese authorities have stopped cross-border movement from Rasuwagadi border point, the only trade route currently in operation between Nepal and China, for six days from Tuesday.
The trade and movement have been halted to repair K81 and K87 road sections from Kerung to Rasuwagadi, DSP Sharad Kumar Thapa Chhetri quoted a Chinese official as saying.
The Chinese side has said cross-border movement has to be halted considering the risky situation of roads due to heavy rains and landslides and that even explosive materials could be used for repairing the roads.
However, it is said that the Chinese authorities closed the border movement for Communist Party of China’s congress, a twice-in-a-decade meeting that started on Wednesday.
