Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong has said that China is looking forward to seeing Nepal embrace the development path with effective implementation of constitution and political stability. 

Addressing a ceremony in Kathmandu to mark the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on Sunday, Yu said China is waiting for a 

successful accomplishment of provincial and federal elections in Nepal. 

According to her, recent high level bilateral exchanges between the two nations have taken the Sino-Nepali relationship to greater heights. 

The Chinese ambassador informed that the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara to Beijing translated into a successful extension of cooperation in six sectors—transportation, post earthquake reconstruction, business, investment, energy and tourism.

“China will continue supporting Nepal’s development endeavour based on its capacity and expects to become a key stakeholder,” Yu said, adding that China has achieved   economic growth rate of 6.9 percent in the first half of current fiscal year. The relationship between the two countries ever since the establishment of diplomatic ties has been smooth and “mutual admiration, development, peace and respect towards each other’s souvereignty have stood as its foundation”.   

Apart from Mahara, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun had visited China in July, while Speaker Onasari Gharti Magar participated in the 2017 Euro-Asia Economic Forum in Xi’an, the capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province earlier this month. 

On the other hand, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang paid a visit to Nepal in August and Chinese Defence Minister Chang Wanquan in March. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Affairs and Local Development Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Gopalman Shrestha, Speaker Magar, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Pokharel, officials from Nepal Army, members of the diplomatic community were among those present on the occasion.
