CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has remarked the issue of constitution amendment is the interest of few leaders and not of Madhesi people.

Talking to the Post scribe in Bardibas on Sunday, leader Nepal said that the poor, marginalized and oppressed communities are being misled with unnecessary agendas instead of putting them in the priority list of developmental activities.

Leader Nepal, who is on the visit of province no 2 to campaign for upcoming third phase of local polls, claimed that only UML has the vision and agendas to uplift the state which is marred by various problems. “For this, public should vote UML in the local and provincial polls,” said the leader, adding, “We will change the face of this state in five years.”

“When I was prime minister, I signed an agreement with India for the construction of Postal Highway for the development of Madhes. Later, party chief KP Oli decided to construct the highway on Nepal’s own,” the leader said.

Leader Nepal said that if only his successors continued the ‘Janata Awas’ programme launched during his premiership for the marginalised communities like Musahar and Chamar, the situation would not have come for TV celebs like Dhurmus-Suntali to construct homes for these poor communities.

He reminded that houses were distributed to 1000 families each of Siraha, Saptari and Kaplivastu under the Janata Awas programme.

He went on to say the development of Madhes only requires the implementation past projects and programmes brought by UML. “But the bad practice of toppling the government in less than a year caused the UML-initiated projects to end without any headway and the entire country is bearing its burnt,” said Nepal.
