EU provides Rs 24m relief to flood, landslide victims
The European Commission is all set to provide Rs 24.2 million (€200 000) in humanitarian aid funding to assist the most-affected families in various flood and landslide affected districts across the country.The European Commission is all set to provide Rs 24.2 million (€200 000) in humanitarian aid funding to assist the most-affected families in various flood and landslide affected districts across the country. A total of 35, 000 people will directly benefit from the aid.
The European Union funding supports the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC), in collaboration with the Nepal Red Cross Society, in delivering much-needed assistance to the affected families, read a statement issued by the EU on Friday.
The fund will be used to provide food, safe drinking water, sanitation items and emergency shelter kits which include tarpaulins, blankets, kitchen utensils, and clothing supplies, according to the EU.
To reduce the risk of water-borne diseases in the aftermath of the floods, hygiene promotion activities are also being provided to the targeted communities, read the statement adding cash grants may also be distributed once local markets resume operations.
