Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar has said that India’s position regarding Nepal’s constitution amendment and demands of Madhes-centric parties is same and clear.
Speaking at a press conference organised to inform Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s India visit on Thursday, he said, “Nepal should continue its effort to incorporate all the sects of the society in the constitution.”
He said that Nepal will see political stability, unity and also move towards the path of prosperity if the constitution is implemented with broader acceptability.
S Jaishankar claimed that no discussions were held regarding Doklam stand-off between India and China during both meetings between Indian PM Narendra Modi and PM Deuba.
It is learnt that Jaishankar did not respond to the queries on Kalapani issue.
S Jaishankar said that Nepal being the chair of Saarc was expected to bring up the issue of Saarc summit, however, no talks were held on the issue.
PM Deuba, however, talked about the issue in the press conference today.
Indian Foreign Secretary said that they also discussed the affects of recent floods in Nepal’s Tarai and India’s Bihar. According to him, discussions were held on prudent and long-term solutions to the problems.
The duo also discussed issues of security and defence during the bilateral meeting.
