A Nepali Congress leader, who fielded his candidacy as independent after failing to secure ticket from party, has won the chairperson election in Suwarnawati -2 of Rolpa district.
Netra Giri had contested the second phase election in ward chairperson post against NC's Madan Singh Thakuri as independent candidate. Giri secured 439 votes to Thakuri's 399.
CPN (Maoist Center) Basanta Thapa received 319 while another candidate Geharaj Gharti won 63 votes.
