Baburam Bhattarai-led Naya Shakti Nepal has decided to participate in the upcoming local level electons using the Upendra Yadav-led Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal’s election symbol.

Bhattarai, along with both parties’ leaders, went to the Election Commission (EC) office on Tuesday to convey their decision regarding using of same election symbol.

According to Political Parties Act, 2058 (2002), parties have to register their proposal on using same election symbol with the EC. The decision of both the parties to use same election symbol (a hand carrying a torch), has been registered at the EC today.

Naya Shakti Nepal has been protesting against the EC’s decision not to provide election symbol to the parties not representing at Parliament.
