Lawyer Purna Prasad Rajbansi has filed a habeas corpus writ at the Supreme Court demanding release of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nawaraj Silwal.
Rajbansi in the writ has claimed that DIG Silwal was apprehended and kept in the custody illegally.
According a SC source, the hearing on the writ would be conducted today, if not tomorrow.
A police team deployed from the Nepal Police headquarters on Monday morning took DIG Silwal in custody for investigation into the case in which he was accused of forging performance evaluation form.
