SLMM activists clash with police in Gaur

Two security personnel and some protesters were injured in the incident. SLMM activists had taken out a “baton and whistle” rally from BP Chowk to protest against May 14 polls.
The clash erupted after protesters hurled stones at CPN-UML lawmaker Ram Kumar Bhattarai near the Gaur Municipality office. Police lobbed three teargas shells and detained eight SLMM activists.
Window panes of the municipal office were damaged. The SLMM said some of its activists including Amabya Khatun were injured when police used force “in peaceful protests”. Police, however, said they were forced to use “minor force” after the protesters started throwing stones.
