At least 42 houses were reduced to cinder in a fire that broke out at Shreepur Maldaiya Tole in Koshi village council-5 of Sunsari district on Thursday.
According to SP Posh Raj Pokharel of the District Police Office, Sunsari, the fire had started from the house of Maneru Miya this afternoon.
SP Pokharel informed that five fire engines from Dharan, Biratnagar, Rajbiraj, Inaruwa and Itahari are battling to extinguish the fire.
He said that the fire would not spread to other places as the entire village has already been reduced to ashes in the flame.
Details of the property destroyed in the blaze are yet to be ascertained.
