Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has remarked that the main opposition CPN-UML should desist from spreading misleading information that would create caste and social discord.
Deuba noted that everyone should be serious about social and ethnic disharmony at the threshold of election as it would put democracy and republic at jeopardy.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba arrived here to take part in the party’s nationwide mass assembly slated to be held in Dhangadi. “It would not be appropriate to hurt the self-respect of any Nepali, be they from hill, Tarai or Mountain,” said Deuba at a press conference.
The NC president called on everyone not to doubt the election. “The elections could be held in two phases after the Madhes-based parties decide take part in the elections,” said the leader.
Saying that the Madhes-based parties have no alternative but to take part in the elections, he opined that the elections might have to be held in two phases because of the delay on the part of Madhes based parties.
He added that the NC’s election slogan is development and institutional development of democracy.
Deuba was accompanied by NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel and Krishna Sitaula.
